[First fortune teller enters from S. Right and sits behind the table with the crystal ball]
- Mr. W.: All these worries, I don't know what to do
- What is going to happen? What is happening?
- I feel blind in this darkness...
- I want light — however blinding
- Maybe my future lies in that crystal ball
- it will show me what to do
- give me a path — direction — answers
- Sir! Can you see my future in that — that thing?
- Fear: Well... in a way
- First you must empty your mind and thoughts into it
- And a few dollars...
- Mr. W.: Yes, yes...here
- Fear: Crystal balls don't pay for themselves you know
- Mr. W.: Now what must I do?
- Fear: Concentrate on the ball
- Through it I will see your mind and hence your future
- Mhh...
- There is much torment in your life — worry about what will be
- Catastrophic events looming on the horizon of time
- Just out of sight
- But somehow you feel it coming and breathing down your neck
- You feel, and even see, through your fear
- The state of your “self” shows much
- The fear consumes you, tearing at your heart
- As it should — fear should be...well feared
- Disaster after disaster waiting to happen — just out of reach
- Yes, your future is a sad one
- Full of turmoil and strife
- Mr. W.: Yes! Yes! I feel that what you say is true
- Can you tell me more?
- What is going to happen
- Fear: I see...mhh...
- All the way at the end
- Beyond all mist standing clear
- Death! The most horrible of events
- I see it in your future
- Fear for your life
- Mr. W.: Thank you for your insight and wisdom
- All my suspicions and terrors confirmed
- The future is as I feared
- Can it really be so?
- Bahh!
- I will not let a piece of glass control my life
- And I saw nothing in those swirling mist
- I want someone to show me the future
- Plain, simple, hopeful — oh and true
- Hope: Step right up sir, I am the great Sss...Go-Swammi
- And I'll tell you what you want to hear
- The future it is...mhh...
- These cards tell all — just watch
- Please — take the cards, shuffle a bit
- That's enough — hand them back now
- With some money please...
- Mhh...shuffle again —
- That's better
- There! There is your future laid out in front of you
- Just like you wanted it
- Mr. W.: Wonderful! Wonderful! I can see it all in front of me
- What does it all mean?
- That guy with the tail and wings for example
- Hope: Ah the devil!
- Good luck! Very good luck!
- It frightens away all the evil in your life
- Mr. W.: Right...
- Hope: No! Truly it does
- The devil was once an angel
- And through his abilities, it restores all goodness upon you
- You look in apprehension at the death card
- Fear not, it is merely the release of human needs
- And your spirit being whisked away into paradise
- Blessed release — a joy for us all
- Go now, good fortune awaits for you
- To merely walk by
- Mr. W.: I feel better with this hopeful fortune
- But still I fear the first was true
- Two people tell me what is to come
- and yet I'm stuck in "right now"
- The future is as unknown
- To me as ever
- Perhaps that Palm Reader will settle my qualm
- Can you see my future in my palms
- Good sir...or madam.
- N-G: Yes — show them to me
- How can I see them if they are covered
- Now go build something with them
- Mr. W.: What?...I thought you said...
- N-G: I am telling you your future
- Your future is what you do,
- In what you make, with those hands
- Go create the future
- The future that you want
- It is as simple as that
- Mr. W.: Though I know he speaks the truth
- Of what help is he to me?
- He puts the burden on myself
- Both before —made all my choices
- Life was such simplicity
- Now the choice is plain to me
- Hello again great sir
[Fear is still wearing Hope's hat]
- Your hat...
- Fear: It is an omen of terrible catastrophy
- You must prepare...prepare for this horrid event
- But I can't tell you the details
- Buy Duct-tape! Buy Duct-tape!
- And plastic sheeting...
- Remember the gas mask
[Curtain has fallen by now]
- Come on, — pay up
- Not another IOU
- This is the seventh bet you lost
- Why do you bet on these stupid people?
- N-G: I hope they'll make the right choice
